Our History

The Oregon Electronics Manufacturers Association, formerly known as the Northwest Printed Circuit Association, has been serving the electronics community in Oregon for over 25 years.

As you may suspect, in the early days the EMA had a focus on the manufacture of printed circuit boards and printed circuit board assemblies. The Association was heavily weighted with members directly associated with the manufacture of printed circuit boards and printed circuit board assemblies. Over the years there has been an evolution within the Association that has led to serving members from the many various types of businesses that serve the electronics industry.

The range of products relating to electronics manufacturing expands dramatically when we think of all of the items that feed into the successful building of a product ready to ship.

This expansion also holds true when we think about the diverse range of people that support electronics manufacturing.

Events include people representing:
Business Ownership Manufacturing Engineering Materials
Quality Engineering Design Engineering Production
Mechanical Engineering Procurement Logistics
Sales Planning Finance

We continue to evolve and serve the electronics manufacturing community by offering programs and tours that relate to a broad range of topics that apply to the overall industry. One of the objectives is to provide a forum where people can learn to operate more effectively and become more aware of suppliers and companies in the local area that support the range of products required. As part of the history relating to this aspect of service the EMA, along with the Oregon Electronics Representatives Association, has put together a local suppliers fair for two out of the last three years. There will be another show in October 2004. This show promotes business awareness for local companies with an eye towards generating economic activity that stays in Oregon. Another benefit of the show is that fees earned above cost and food collected as the price of admission goes to the Oregon Food Bank.

It is our intention to continue to keep pace with the electronics industry as it moves forward. If you have suggestions that will help the success of our efforts please don’t hesitate to contact us.
